A banana marshmallow bar that needed a character as joyful as the product itself.

ChocoNana is a banana-flavoured marshmallow bar coated in chocolate glaze, a product with instant personality built into the name. Zoom Trade came to us with a clear instinct: they wanted a character mascot that could carry the brand and build recognition across future variants. The brief was shaped through a structured discovery questionnaire where the client shared references, defined what they liked and didn't like, and gave us a clear emotional territory to work within. From there, every creative decision was ours.

Most distribution brands in Bosnia launch consumer products without a strong visual personality. ChocoNana needed to stand out in a confectionery market dominated by established players, and do it with a character strong enough to build long-term recognition, not just shelf presence.

Solution

I developed a complete character-led packaging system for ChocoNana: mascot design, typography, colour palette, and packaging layout. The banana character was the central creative decision: a mascot that is the product creates stronger flavour communication and more memorable shelf presence than a character that simply accompanies it. The smiling banana wearing the Zoom Trade eyes also ties the product back to the parent brand identity seamlessly, building brand family recognition without needing to say it explicitly.

The central idea is joy made edible. ChocoNana isn't just a snack, it's a mood. The banana character leads with personality, the hand-drawn doodles add warmth and energy, and the red and yellow colour palette creates immediate visual impact on the shelf. The Zoom Trade smiley eyes on the character are a quiet but deliberate brand thread, connecting this product to the wider Zoom Trade family while giving ChocoNana its own distinct voice.

Approved by the client. Currently in the production pipeline, pending back-of-pack technical finalisation. Designed as a scalable character system, the mascot is built to extend across future flavour variants within the Zoom Trade product family.
